Re: Multiple cameras active freezes PC
OK... I uninstalled the old software, drivers and OEM files. Installed the 3.012D and I got the same thing. At this point I went shopping... I bought a PCI bus graphics card:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2484223&CatId=696

Also bought the same motherboard I had just in case there was an issue with the one I got and I bought a Mach Speed motherboard:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2604788&CatId=1772

I removed the PCIe graphics card and drivers and installed the PCI. Same thing. Multiple cameras enabled freezes the PC and I get the same error.

Now that the graphic cards appear to be unrelated to the issue I installed the new identical MSI motherboard with the PCIe graphics card. Same error.

I then installed the Mach Speed motherboard with the PCIe graphics card. XP recognized the motherboard, I assume due to it having the same nvidia nforce4 chipset. Loaded the drivers for it and again the security software froze with multiple cameras active. For grins I formatted the HD and am reinstalling XP just to make sure there isn't anything conflicting but at this point it really looks like an issue with the video card and/or software and how it interacts with either the chipset and/or dual core processor. The one thing I keep noticing right when it dies it the clocks on each camera start to hang up and then jump ahead to catch up. Then in the second or so after it hangs and before it dumps to the blue screen the clocks are about a 10th of a second off. Don't know if it matters or not but it appears there is a timing issue. I would think all the clocks should remain the exact same time.

It'll probably be tomorrow before I finish the updates on XP. Will let you know.

Re: Multiple cameras active freezes PC

If anything, I would not have bought the same model motherboard.

Considering the DVR card did not have this problem before installation into this PC, that leaves the components of this PC, not the DVR Card...

Re: Multiple cameras active freezes PC
These are the specs I have found to run this card:

Min. Requirements for Viewing/Recording Video
Processor (CPU) Pentium IV 1.0 Ghz or above
AMD Athlon XP 1.8 Ghz or above
Memory (RAM) 256 MB SDRAM or above
Monitor Resolution 1024 x 768 Resolution Monitor
Video Card AGP-Style ATI or NVidia 64 MB Video
*(Not OnBoard style)
Motherboard Motherboard with a Full PCI Bus
Most VIA chipsets not supported
PCI Requirements 1 PCI Slot and 1 IRQ per card
Hard Disk 40 + GB Hard Drive
(Larger Hard Drive = More Recording)
Operating System Windows XP Home or Pro
(x64 and MCE NOT supported)

According to this, my system is more than compliant. If you're certain that it's something in my PC... then what should I buy to make it work? What motherboards, chipsets, CPU's, RAM and graphics cards do you recommend?

Re: Multiple cameras active freezes PC
As I mentioned... it is doing the same thing on a DIFFERENT motherboard. Can you explain why this card will not work with a dual core processor and the nvidia chip set? If it worked on a 7 year old motherboard (Iwill K266+), via chipset and AMD single core processor and now I've updated to something new... I'm more inclined to think that something on the video card/software hasn't kept up. Do you have any dual core test machines with an nvidia chipset? Do you have any updated video cards? I bought this one last year so I wouldn't think it should be to far out of date...

Re: Multiple cameras active freezes PC

You stated that the motherboard was the same model as the one that you were currently using.

We have used the Card with Dual Core CPUs with no problems.  However as previously stated, we cannot test with EVERY motherboard/CPU combination that is available on the market today.

We have given our recommendations, which would be to use the combination that you know works and consider an AMD Athlon XP proc with your Previous motherboard, as that configuration worked previously, and presumably would still function.

Not every motherboard is created equal, and some have problems with transfer of data over the PCI bus as we have discussed previously.  Of all customers who have used the Security Eyes Pro DVR Card and software, your case is the only one with the noted problems.

Thank you
