Security Camera Showroom Come Visit our Security Camera showroom in Naperville, IL
Hi, You haven't heard from me since before the crash; I believe that this topic was well covered in a long gone thread, but that's history. I am upgrading my Security Eyes machine and would like to know the requirements for a compatible motherboard and, if you could offer a couple of not too pricey examples that would likely be available in Canada it would be greatly appreciated.
Bill from Driftwood
Hi Bill,
For Motherboard requirements, there are several main things to keep in mind for best compatibility. Chipset: Each motherboard has a different chipset, so we cannot list all compatible chipsets, but if you stay to INTEL brand chipsets, then you will get the best performance and no compatibility issues. PCI Slots: Next, ensure that the motherboard you select has enough PCI slots for the number of Security Eyes DVR Cards that you have. Each 4 channel card will require a PCI slot.
Video Card: Onboard style video cards are not compatible with the security eyes dvr software, so you can get a motherboard with no built-in video card and save a little on the motherboard, then use a 128MB+ NVIDIA or ATI chipset Video card (and install the LATEST drivers from the manufacturer's website) Just make sure that your motherboard has the correct graphics slot (PCIe or AGP) for the type of video card that you have selected.
The motherboard that we use frequently for our smaller builds (1-2 DVR Cards) is a fairly inexpensive INTEL Brand motherboard - Model #BLKD945GCNL
