Can anyone tell me in layman's term how to delete old video files? I have some from June and July that I want to delete but I cannot figure out how except to delete each 25 sec. recording from each camera on each day. Is there any way to delete the whole month without having to go through this tedious process?
Thanks, Amy
Amy,
Thank you for your post. There should never really be a need to delete the old video, as once the hard drive is used up to the safe storage setting in the main menu, it will automatically delete and write over the oldest video...this way it always keeps a rolling storage.
However, when you are viewing the video in the playback mode of security eyes, you can delete the files if necessary by selecting the camera and the month, then click on the 1st video file in the list and scroll down to the bottom...then press SHIFT and Click again with the mouse on the last one in the list. This will then allow you to delete the entire list of files from that month at once from that camera. Repeat this for each additional camera.
However we recommend just allowing the software to perform this function itself automatically...Go into System Settings, then in the very middle of the first tab, you will find a drop-down box that says Minimum Retain Space...set that setting to the amount of space you want to LEAVE on the hard drive...for example if you set it to 10000MB, it will leave approximately 10 GB of space on your hard drive free, but use the rest of the hard drive for a rolling storage (automatically deleting the oldest video).

Response from Customer:
Hello, Thank you for responding. When I click on the system settings button, I get a drop down box of the following: System settings (in gray - unable to open) Counter Application Settings (in gray - unable to open) Enable Camera (in gray - unable to open) Live Audio (in gray - unable to open) Menu Color Settings Account Settings Re-login etc. I was unable to find the drop down box stating Minimum Retain Space under the System Settings button. Is there another way to get there? It appears that that setting has not been set up because my computer almost crashed due to all the video on it (less than 1% free space). I also have a few more questions: * How do I set the properties to back up to a folder on a secondary drive? * Can I set up the video to back up to a DVD burner? Thank you for all your help! Amy

Before you take the following steps, first delete your old video using the steps that we outlined previously...that way you will have enough space free on your hard drive before setting the minimum retain setting below. When you Click on the button to open the menu that has system settings grayed out...that means that presently the Monitor is running (system active). Click on the "Start Monitor" which will currently have a checkmark next to it to deactivate the Monitor. Now when you go back into the menu, you will be able to click on "System Settings" to get into the menu.
Then you will be able to access the System Settings:
Once in the System Settings, set the "Minimum Retain Space to at least 10,000 MB:
And make sure that the Recycle box is checked.
