Just upgraded to Active Directory on Server PC. ServerUI.exe now fails with an OBJ INIT ERR from Object Tracking MFC Application when ever it is started by any user except Administrator. Please help.
lprice,
Thank you for your forum post. There are a couple of possible causes for the failure that you are experiencing:
1. "Just upgraded to Active Directory on Server PC" - This could mean one of several things, as Active Directory is a service that is run on Domain Controller servers to manage user accounts/email addresses and more. Active Directory is already installed on PCs that are running a Windows Server OS. So by upgrading to Active Directory, does this mean that the operating system has changed? At any rate, we CANNOT stress enough. The PC that you use for DVR Recording, regardless of what software you are using, should be USED ONLY FOR VIDEO RECORDING. This PC should not be used as a Domain controller, web host, file server, email server or any other purpose, otherwise system instability and errors similar to what you are finding can occur. This renders the system less stable, and defeats the purpose of having a video server to begin with. If by upgrading to Active Directory, you actually mean that you have joined a Domain, then the above does not apply, but it has changed the permissions of your user account. When you join a Domain, the new Domain user accounts may be restricted accounts on that computer, which can definitely prohibit the Security Eyes software from operating properly.
2. Security Eyes Software requires Administrative Privledges on the local PC. If you are now logging in with a restricted User account, that does not have Administrative Privledges on the local PC, then the software will not be able to operate properly. To fix this error, you will need to grant the User account Local Admin privledges on the local PC by making the changes in Active Directory on your Domain Controller.

Poor choice of words, I just added the PC to a domain. Knowing your software requires admin rights helps. I'll tackle the Local Admin authority.
Thanks, good to hear. If you log in as a Network administrator on the PC, you should be able to add the normal user account as a Local Admin on that PC. Thank you Platinum CCTV Support http://Platinum-CCTV.com
Thanks for the info. Worked out just fine.
