Deleting old video / databases?
I want to set up my system to automatically delete any video over 3 days old. I set the Event Report Setting to 3 days, but it never seems to delete my old videos for me. Am I looking at the wrong setting? Does this software have that feature. Again, I want the system to automatically delete any video over 3 days old. Please help.

Re: Deleting old video / databases?

BroadcastWorks,

Thank you for your inquiry.  The Setting that you are changing will only flush the Event Report Logs from the C:\Report folder on your hard drive after 3 days, not clear the video.  To adjust the setting for video recording, you can set the Minimum Retain Space Upwards, so that the recording will take less of the room on your hard drive before recycling.  This will not allow you to set by the number of days, but you can estimate based on the amount of space on the drive taken up by your already recorded days of video.

Remember, that this setting, is for the amount of space to LEAVE on the drive when the video recycles, NOT the amount of space that you want it to use.

Hopefully this helps you,
Thank you

Re: Deleting old video / databases?
I currently have that set to leave 1000 mb on the drive. However, the program notices that the drive is getting full and just give me an error and stops recording. It doesn't delete or overwrite the existing video files. So, I find myself having to manualy delete all the old files and restart the program. Is this supposed to happen or is it not deleting like it should? Thanks.

Re: Deleting old video / databases?

1000 MB is much lower than recommended for minimum storage on the drive, because Windows Swap Files, Auto Updates, etc. can interfere with this space.

Also, we will need to know what version of the software you are currently running (number printed on CD).

Thank you
