Answer: YES, when ordering make sure you tell the supplier that you are adding a card into an existing system, and they will initiate an Online upgrade of your existing dongle programming to accept the 2nd card once it arrives. If you just order a card without letting them know, then they would send another dongle that is programmed for a single card, and the cards would not work together.
With the D-500 card, you can combine up to 4 of these cards in one PC (as long as you have 4 PCI slots available) for up to 16 cameras.

Actually I have none installed yet but I told when I ordered that they will work together so they should be configured, Is it recomended the use of an external hard drive to get more video storage space? and could the software be hosted at the external HD?

Thank you for your inquiry. The system should not be used with an external hard drive. Unfortunately, even the fastest external hard drives are MUCH slower than internal hard drives, and can cause additional video processing and storage/stability issues. Adding an additional internal hard drive would be the best bet, as it will supply the best speed and stability.
